@Sharan_Bridges, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating display glitches can be, especially when everything else seems to be working fine. Since you've already tried updating drivers, rolling back updates, and even tested with an external display (which works fine), it helps narrow down the issue to the laptop's internal display or its connection.

Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Perform a Hard Reset

Sometimes, a hard reset can clear out temporary glitches.

  1. Shut down the laptop.
  2. Disconnect all external devices and power adapter.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power adapter and turn the laptop back on.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics for Display

HP provides built-in diagnostics to test the display hardware.

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  3. Select Component Tests > Display > Video Test.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If the test fails, it could indicate a hardware issue with the display panel or cable.

Check for BIOS Update

An outdated BIOS can sometimes cause display issues.

  1. Go to the HP support page.
  2. Enter your laptop’s serial number or model (e.g., HP Pavilion Gaming).
  3. Look for any available BIOS updates and install them carefully.

Boot into BIOS to Check for Flickering

This helps determine if the issue is software or hardware-related.

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS.
  2. Let the laptop sit in BIOS for a few minutes.

If the screen flickers in BIOS, it's likely a hardware issue (e.g., display cable, panel, or GPU).
If it doesn’t flicker, the issue may be software-related (e.g., drivers or OS).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
