My display glitching for the past few days. No new updates for the drivers or Windows itself, default HP diagnostics find no errors. Any insights?

@Hayumisama, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Based on what you've described and the screenshot of your OMEN Transcend 14 (8U969AV), a few potential causes come to mind even though HP diagnostics show no faults and there are no driver or OS updates pending.
Suggested Troubleshooting Steps:
Initial Checks
- Check External Monitor:
- Connect your laptop to an external display via HDMI or USB-C.
- If the external display is fine, the issue likely lies with the built-in display or cable (like the eDP cable).
- If the glitch appears on both displays, it may indicate a GPU or software issue.
- Safe Mode Test:
- Boot into Safe Mode by pressing Shift + Restart > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings.
- See if the glitch persists there. If it doesn’t, it’s almost certainly a driver or third-party software issue.
🛠️ Advanced Steps
1. Roll Back GPU Driver
- Sometimes the latest GPU driver might not be stable:
- Go to Device Manager > Display adapters.
- Right-click on Intel Arc / Intel Iris Xe or NVIDIA GPU, then click Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver (if available).
- If rollback isn’t available, consider downloading an earlier version from the Intel or NVIDIA websites.
2. Reinstall Graphics Drivers (Clean Install)
- Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode to clean uninstall the GPU drivers.
- Reinstall:
- Intel GPU drivers: Intel Arc/iGPU drivers.
- NVIDIA drivers (if a discrete GPU is present).
3. BIOS/UEFI Check
- Make sure you're on the latest BIOS from the HP website for your model:
- Visit the HP Software & Driver Downloads page for the OMEN Transcend 14 (8U969AV).
4. Check for Background Apps or Overlay Tools
- Disable any tools like MSI Afterburner, Razer Cortex, NVIDIA ShadowPlay, or any RGB/custom display software. These can sometimes interfere with display output.
🧪 Optional Tests
- HP UEFI Display Test (outside Windows):
- Turn off the laptop.
- Power it on and tap Esc > F2 > Select Component Tests > Display.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
