HP Notebook - 15g-dr0006tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

It was working normal, until a blue screen appeared stating as follows:

Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'are just collecting some error info, and then you can restart.

100% complete

When I restarted my laptop, it displays the HP logo completely fine with loading symbol, and after few minutes the HP logo disappears and screen turns completely blank. Though I can see the cursor symbol (loading in background) when I touch the mouse-pad and a strange patch on the screen but there is no response from the display.
Please do not recommend to Install and Run HP Support Assistant to update the drivers because my laptop never boots in the normal mode.
Please help as early as possible.Blank display with CursorBlank display with CursorZoomed in image of blank displayZoomed in image of blank display

@saif1105 Here's a list of steps that should help resolve the issue:

Use the following steps if your computer stops at a black screen with a blinking cursor after entereing the Windows password.

  1. On the black screen, press Ctrl, Shift, ESC to open the Task Manager window.

    NOTE:

If the Task Manager window does not open, see Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot.

  2. Click the Process tab.

  3. Look for one or both of the following tasks:

    • Run Once Wrapper

    • Run Once Wrapper (32-bit)

Right-click the task, and then click the End task button. Windows should start normally.

  4. On the Windows 8 start screen type Control Panel then click Control Panel in the search results. In Windows 7, click Start then type Control Panel, then click Control Panel in the search results.

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)

Dear support team,

  1. I clearly stated that my laptop stops at blank screen after the loading of HP logo.  There is no screen to enter password, it goes blank immediately after the HP logo loads. When I am unable to enter the password, how could you expect me to open my task manager by pressing Ctrl, Shift, ESC.
  2. Okay, I blindly followed your step number 1, and tried opening task manager when the screen goes blank but nothing shows up even after pressing Ctrl + Shift + ESC.
When I am unable to open task manager, all the following steps which you suggested stands worthless.
  3. Moving further, I see you kept a note saying "If the Task Manager window does not open, see Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot."I visited this link and noticed that "Do not use this document if there are no sounds from the computer when the power is turned on." Since there are no sounds from my laptop when power is turned on as well as during the blank screen, I cannot further proceed through your steps.

Please note:

  1. Consider that my laptop is never mishandled.
  2. Since there are no sounds or beep from laptop, I feel there is no hardware problem.
  3. There were NO external devices connected.
  4. There were NO recent applications installed.
  5. I already performed hard disk troubleshoot from the BIOS and NO problem was found with my hard disk.

@saif1105 I appreciate the clarification, here's a few things you can do, to identify and resolve the issue, accordingly:

Step 1: Performing a hard reset

Resetting the computer can resolve many issues that cause a blank screen. Go to How to Power Reset Your Laptop for detailed steps to reset your notebook.

Continue to the next step if a hard reset did not resolve the issue.

Step 2: Connecting an external monitor to test the display

The screen might remain black when there is a corrupted graphics driver or a problem with the LCD display back light. To test the display, attach an external monitor and restart the computer. This test is helpful if the display is black but you can hear that the computer is operating.

Notebook connected to an external monitor

  1. Connect an external monitor to the notebook. For instructions, see Connecting a Monitor, Projector, or TV (Windows 10, 😎.

  2. If the computer screen does not display on the external monitor, press F4 (or the key with this symbol ) until the screen image displays.

  3. If an image displays on the external monitor, there might be a graphics driver conflict with the notebook LCD display. With the external monitor connected, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads. Download and install the latest graphics and chipset drivers for your specific computer. If an updated BIOS version is available, see Updating the BIOS for steps to install it.

  • If the screen is still black after updating the chipset and graphics drivers and BIOS, the LCD might be defective. Contact HP for technical assistance or send the notebook for service.

  • If you can hear sounds of operation but no image is visible on either display, go to the next step.

Step 3: Recovering the notebook BIOS using a key press combination

When you upgrade the BIOS on your notebook, your hard drive stores a copy of the previous BIOS version. As long as the hard drive remains functional, you can recover and install the last good version of the BIOS.

Use these steps even if you cannot see anything on the monitor:

  1. Turn off the computer.

  2. Connect the notebook to a power source using the power adapter.

  3. Press and hold the Windows key  and the B key at the same time while the computer is off.
  4. While still pressing both keys, hold down the Power button for one second, and then release the Power button and the keys.

The power LED light remains on, and the screen remains blank for about 40 seconds. You might hear beeping sounds. Afterwards, an HP BIOS Update screen displays, and the BIOS update begins.

Keep me posted with the results.

If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
