Display is frozen - weird

My computer (upgraded to 64-bit Win 10) was freezing after startup on the Welcome screen. I've already tried the backup restore and a system reset, saving my personal files. However, when the computer started after the system reset, the display was very weird. I had my background display and what was left of the icons. There was no bottom taskbar, but the icons were there. If I clicked on the File Explorer, nothing seemed to happen, but if I hovered over the taskbar icon again, the folder preview came up, and I could get into it that way. Every window that opened would stay that way, even after closing them. It wasn't until I closed the file explorer and reopened it the same way that the display would refresh any.

I quit around 2am, and this morning, when I started it up it was frozen at the welcome screen. Before doing anything else rash, I moved my mouse around on the screen, and noticed that when I got to the bottom left, just in a little, the mouse became the text I, meaning it was over the search field. PROGRESS! (I think that also means I did the entire reset for no reason, and now I've got a bunch of programs to reinstall but that's for after I get this fixed.)

You think there's anything I can do about this stuck display? I've already tried plugging in a second display to see if the other one would be alright, but that was a bust. I can't replace the video card, as it's integral to the mobo. I've been as of yet unable to start this computer in Safe Mode. I followed the Windows 10 instructions, but when it gets to "See More Recovery options" in the instructions, I don't have that option. Pressing F8 on startup does nothing, but ESC does, and F1, F2, F4 and F11 does the same things as when I press ESC.

WOO-EE. Worse comes to worse, I'll just rip out the HDD and find a harness of some sort to plug it into to get all my files. If anybody has a suggestion, I'll listen intently. =]
