@Habeeb2,

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

As I understand your display is dim,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Have you adjusted the display brightness using the function keys?

Did you check if the brightness is dim on an alternate/external monitor?

While you respond to that, here's what I recommend you to do:

View this video on YouTube.

Step 1: Adjust the display brightness using the function keys

Use the function keys to adjust the brightness of the display. Follow the steps below to adjust the brightness of the screen.

   NOTE:

The brightness function key numbers (f9 or f10) might vary depending on the notebook model. However, the icons on the keys should be similar.

On some notebook models you can adjust the brightness without pressing the function (fn) key. For instance, on certain notebook models, press f2 or f3 to control the brightness.

   NOTE:

If you restart the computer after adjusting the display brightness, the brightness level might return to the default setting based on the power source (battery or AC). This is not an error; the notebook is functioning as designed. Use the function keys to change the brightness back to the desired setting, or change the default settings in Control Panel.

  • To make the display brighter, hold the fn key on the keyboard and press the f10 key  repeatedly, or this key .

    Or
  • To make the display dimmer, hold the fn key on the keyboard and press the f9 key  repeatedly, or this key .

If the display is still dim, proceed to the next step.

Alternatively, I would suggest here is to Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform a Windows update:

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to uninstall HP support Assistant from control panel and programs and features.

Once done, restart the computer and then install the latest version of HP support assistant, using this link - HP PCs - Using HP Support Assistant (Windows)

Once done, try to update the drivers from HP support assistant and check if that helps.

Let me know how that pans out

feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon,

followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution' as it would help the community gain more knowledge,

And Have a great day Ahead!

Dear sir, I adjusted the brightness of the screen but it was not working. Now m using my laptop with a external monitor, it works fine. I discussed with a local engineer, he said that the bls (i dont know what is bls) of the screen gets fused, need to replace the screen.

Now i want to know that, is there any possibility to fix or repair this or i need to replace the screen.
