Omen Transcend 14
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a Omen Transcend 14 and I was recently using a monitor display attached via hdmi cord, I unplugged it however the screen on the laptop isn’t on, I’ve seen the light and facial recognition turn on just not the screen. I may have dug the whole deeper when trying to troubleshoot by plugging a monitor back in and messing with the display modes and now  the monitor isn’t on. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @PG112,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Keyboard Shortcut for Display Output

  • Switch Display: Use the keyboard shortcut to cycle through display modes. Press Windows Key + P to open the Project menu. Try selecting different options such as "PC Screen Only", "Duplicate", "Extend", and "Second Screen Only".

2. Check Display Settings

  • Display Settings: Connect the external monitor again, then right-click on the desktop and select Display settings. Check if both screens are recognized and correctly configured.

3. Restart Your Laptop

  • Restart: Sometimes a simple restart can fix display issues. Shut down your laptop completely and then turn it back on.

4. Update Graphics Drivers

  • Driver Update: Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause display issues. Visit HP Support or the graphics card manufacturer's website to download and install the latest drivers.
  • Reinstall Drivers: Go to Device Manager (right-click Start and select Device Manager), expand Display adapters, right-click on your graphics card, select "Uninstall device", and then restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.

5. Check External Monitor Settings

  • External Monitor: If the external monitor is not displaying, ensure it is set to the correct input source (HDMI) and check the connection.

6. Boot in Safe Mode

  • Safe Mode: Boot into Safe Mode to see if the display works. Press Shift while selecting Restart, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings, and select Restart. Once in safe mode, check the display.

7. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Hard Reset: Disconnect all peripherals, unplug the laptop, remove the battery (if removable), and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. Reconnect the battery and power, then turn on the laptop.

8. HP Support Assistant

  • Use HP Support Assistant: If installed, use HP Support Assistant to diagnose and fix hardware issues. It can provide solutions and updates that might resolve your display problem.

I hope this helps.
