Pavillion dv7-1127c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Having trouble with HDMI connection to smart tv. Suddenly there was no detection of external display. Somehow I changed the Display adapter in Device Mgr to Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. How do I change back to my graphics card? and why cant I display to TV all of the sudden. It worked finr last night. Bought new HDMI cable. Not sure if that will fix it. Must change Dispaly adapter back first. Help!

There is no other video card. The video is a chip soldered to the motherboard. What it likely means is that this driver does not provide full function, after all, since the video chip is not compatible with Windows 10.

From AMD website:

The following is a list of graphics products that do not support Windows® 10:

  • ...
  • ATI Radeon™ HD 3000 Series /ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3000 Series Graphics

You have:

ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics RS780M

This person supposedly got it working by force installing a Windows 7 driver:

I suspect a Windows 10 update likely overwrote whatever driver you had before and reverted it to MS Basic which will not support an external display. You can either roll back to Windows 7 or reinstall a Windows 7 driver whenever Windows 10 decides it does not like your HD3200 video which it will do sometimes when there is a major Windows 10 update.

Thank you for your response. I went through the download you suggested. It still hasn't fixed my HDMI port. I did get my ATI Radeon 3200 graphics driver back, so that is good...? However I still have no HDMI signal, audio or video. Is it possible my 3200 graphics card is no good? Or just won't work any longer with my Windows 10? If so, is there a replacement graphics card for my Pavillion dv7-1127cl notebook that I can order? My notebook was originally purchased with Windows Vista, I believe. Then I believe it was upgraded to Windows 7 then to Windows 10.
