HI @Punith2001,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A vertical line appearing on the left or right side of your display can be caused by several issues, ranging from software glitches to hardware problems. Here’s a structured approach to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Restart Your Computer:
- Turn off your computer completely and wait for a minute before turning it back on. This can sometimes resolve temporary display glitches.
2. Check for Software Issues
- Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. You can update them via:
- Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
- Device Manager: Right-click the Start button, select Device Manager, expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics card, and choose Update driver.
- Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode to see if the line still appears. Safe Mode loads minimal drivers and can help determine if the issue is driver-related.
- Windows 10/11: Hold Shift and click Restart from the Start menu, then navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings and select Restart, then choose 4 or 5 for Safe Mode.
- Ensure your display settings are configured correctly, such as resolution and refresh rate:
- Right-click on the desktop, select Display settings, and adjust the resolution and refresh rate settings.
3. Test with an External Monitor
- Connect your computer to an external monitor or TV. If the vertical line does not appear on the external display, the issue is likely with your computer’s internal display or cable connections.
- If the external monitor shows the same line, the issue might be related to the graphics card or drivers.
4. Check the Display Cable Connection
- If you’re using a desktop monitor, check the cable connections between your monitor and computer. Ensure they are securely connected.
- Disconnect and reconnect the cables to ensure a proper connection.
5. Perform a Display Test
- Many computers have built-in diagnostics tools to test the display. Check your computer’s user manual for instructions on running display diagnostics.
- Inspect the screen for any visible signs of damage or pressure marks that might be causing the line.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
