HP Elitebook 840 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm using laptop HP Elitebook 840  G2 which only has DisplayPort (capable for 3840x2160 60Hz).
I want to use with my monitor: UltraWide 2560x1080, max 60hz, HDMI only.
So I bought a cheap DP-HDMI adapter (2$, it says "maximum support UHD 4K * 2K, support DisplayPort v1.2").

When I received the adapter, I tested it with my PC first (card 1050):
- Monitor UltraWide 2560x1080 60Hz: Ok, it can output 2560x1080 60Hz
- Another monitor 2560x1440 120Hz: it can output 2560x1440 but only 60Hz

I thought I'd bought the correct adapter for my lap.
However to my disappointment, when I use it with my lap, it only gives 1920x1080 on my UltraWide 2560x1080.
I don't understand. Why does the adapter works with my PC but my lap ?

@Meo2

Throw cable to a bin and buy a proper cable. Note: When resolution goes up refresh rate will go down therefore probably you won't get over 60Hz .

Regards.
