EliteBook 8470 and dock
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)
I can use a Display port to HDMI adapter cable direct from my laptop and connect to my tv, but the Displayport on the docking station doesnt work at all.

I'm trying to set up the docking station in such a way that my kids won't need to do anything beyond dock and undock the laptop.

are there drivers or settings that need to be adjusted to connect the docking station to a tv?

its seems old docking station.

Most probably you facing handshake (misscompatibility) betwwen devices and cable. Mot probably different version of Display port.

Do you have any other monitor connected at the some time with other output? Like DVI or ANALOG ?attach to the dock station ?

I have nothing else connected. I specifically bought this laptop to connect to the tv so it's not hooked up to anything else (aside from power and internet). Is there another connection I should try?

Try dvi to Hdmi. but you will have issue with the sound.
