Hello,
I have an Elitebook 1040 G3 with the Ultraslim docking station (D9Y32AA). Prior to the Creators update being installed I could insert the computer into the docking station, press the power button on the docking station, and both my desktop screens would turn on and it would be ready to use immediately.
After the update, both the screens stay black even after pressing the power button. They stay black until the computer lid is opened and closed.
Any ideas?
Thank you.

I have not specifically seen this issue but here is a suggestion for troubleshooting.
1) Download the latest BIOS update for the 1040 G3. (1.11 Rev A)
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79501-80000/sp79936.exe
2) Download and install the latest FW for the Ultra Slim Dock.
Click on the following link. Make sure that you read and then follow the installation instructions detailed at the bottom of this file.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79001-79500/sp79015.html
Once you have clearly read and understood the instructions, download and install the update.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79001-79500/sp79015.exe
This might not solve your issue but it will update the System BIOS and Dock FW and help isolate your issue.

I believe it to be an issue across the board with the 1703 Windows build. I saw a post on a Lenovo forum complaining about similar issues. I've run across the same thing with several models and docking stations at my place of work. It appears that it doesn't detect the screens correctly and keeps the laptop screen active even when the lid is closed. It should just display on the two screens by default, but it doesn't.
My workaround has been to keep the lid open and go in to Display Settings. Set one of the external screens to the main display and then you can go under the Multiple Display options (while you have the laptop screen selected (1)) and disconnect the display. See if that helps. You should be able to close the lid and then wake it back up with the power button on the dock. It then remembers the setup and will still function standalone when you undock. Long post, but I hope it helps.

One more thing to try.
Open the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel.
Configure your system with your system docked in the docking station. Set your primary display and secondary montior.
At the bottom of the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel click on "Save Profile'. Create a profile called docked.
See if having a "docked" profile will help.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I haven't tried the firmware updates but I did try the other things without success. It's not really a big deal as simply opening and closing the lid solves the problem - just one of those annoying little things.
