Product: EliteBook 8470p
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there. I have recently obtained this refurbished laptop. 

 

All is going well, but I am not sure whether there is a built in webcam or not. Sorry if this a dumb question, but I have struggled to find the answer elsewhere.

The webcam was an optional item on that model.

 

Below is the link to the quickspecs for the 8470p.

 

Take a look at the illustration on page 1.  Item 5 is where the optional webcam would be located if it has one.

Thank you Paul. That explains a lot. I have the nightlight but not the webcam. That explains why Skype etc cannot find it!
