When I connect one monitor to hdmi and the other to vga , I have to disconnect the laptop screen to make the monitors work.

I did a lot of r&d on this and finally found a solution. Hdmi splitter will Not work since I dont want to duplicate the 3rd monitor. Intel HD 4000 will only accept 2 displays at a time for this laptop. So what you need is a usb 3.0 to hdmi adapter. I bought one from amazon and it worked flawlessly. I now have 3 extended screens and can add more with such adapters.

The adapters have their own chip and are not dependent on the in built graphics card.

Thanks for the response though.

@bondgamer Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to connect three monitors,

You have to purchase the HDMI splitter cable in this regard.
