i have an intel i7-8705g cpu with rx vega mgl graphics. The AMD tool is not applicable for this chip. I have the intel support assistant installed. All the latest recommended drivers. I have the latest version of HP Support assistant installed. It does not recommend any drivers. It doesn't even show old drivers.
Auto Rotate remains greyed out, even after manually changing HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AutoRotation -Enable from 0 to 1. This key resets to 0 after reboot.
Intel and HP need to release the latest drivers for these machines. This is absurd to pay 2grand for a computer and have its main rotation function not work after just a couple years.

Hi,
Let us try the following steps, and check if it helps.
Step 1:
Press Windows key + X, and select Device Manager.
Find Keyboards in the list of devices and click the arrow to expand it.
Right-click on the internal keyboard and click Disable.
If there is no Disable option listed, click Uninstall.
Click File>Exit. Your laptop’s internal keyboard should now be disabled.
Note: If you had to choose Uninstall instead of Disable in step 4, the keyboard will be automatically detected and re-installed if you ever have the Device Manager scan for new hardware for some reason. If that happens you’ll need to repeat this procedure in order to uninstall it again.
Step 2:
Press Windows key + X, and select Device Manager.
Click to expand Mice and other pointing devices.
Right click the touchpad and click Disable.
Hope it helps.

Finally.
With the latest windows 10 update as of this morning 6.22.2021, the spectrex360-15 appears to function sufficiently.
When the screen is tilted back slightly more than 180 degrees, the laptop keyboard backlights automatically shut off as they should, and the trackpad and keyboard become disabled, as they should. And tilting the machine automatically rotates the screen in the appropriate direction.
Rotation lock remains grayed out in the off position if the machine is in the standard laptop mode, i.e., screen tilted <180 degrees. But you can manually rotate the screen with the keyboard shortcuts CTRL+ALT+[Arrowkey direction].
With a second monitor attached, "tablet mode" becomes greyed out and cannot be enabled. I don't have a secondary touch screen, so i don't know if this would be the case when attaching a touch screen monitor. However, this issue is minor and does not impact my use of the machine.
This solution is satisfactory. Thanks to whomever fixed the drivers, finally.
