Background info: I updated my laptop some years ago to Windows 10. It is since then that I have experience my issue:
My laptop display consistently, albeit sporadically, freezes up and goes to a black screen before coming back on. In my Event Viewer it shows a Warning for my Display (Event 4101) and the Details state "driver iqfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Once this happens, whatever application I am using will no longer function until I reboot. In reading through the HP support articles I learned that it is possible that my driver is out of date. Per the HP site, there is no current update available. However, when I went to the Intel website, downloaded their system check, they found that a newer driver is available. Whatever method I use to install it, I get the same message "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer." (Screenshot included below)
I do not know for certain if the updated driver will fix my issue, but I clearly cannot try until I figure out how I can get it installed. Please provide some assistance as it is hindering my ability to do most things (gaming, web browsing, watching videos...etc) outside of basic word processing.

Hi:
What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?
Use this guide to find that information. Please do not post the serial number.

Hi:
Here is how you can manually update your notebook's Intel HD 4600 graphics driver to the latest version...
First, create a system restore point so that you can roll back to the current graphics driver you have installed, just in case the updated driver does not work to your expectations.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4027538/windows-create-a-system-restore-point
Next, download and save the latest Intel HD graphics driver ZIP file from the link below.
This is the latest driver as of March 25, 2020: 15.40.45.5126
Unzip the graphics driver file to its folder. Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
To unzip the file, right click on the graphics driver zip file you downloaded, and select Extract All.
Go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category
Click on the Intel HD graphics adapter listed there.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and then at the bottom of that window, select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
Click on Have Disk, and browse to the unzipped graphics driver folder>Graphics>igdlh64 (setup information file), click Next, and the driver should install.
Be patient, as it can take a few minutes for the driver to completely install.
When the installation is finished, restart the PC.
To update the Intel HDMI audio driver to the latest version...
Go to the device manager, click to expand the Sound, video and game controllers device manager category.
Click on the Intel HD audio device listed there. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the unzipped Intel graphics driver main folder.
Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked, and the driver will install.
Then restart the PC.

I downloaded the driver file and unzipped the folder, but it is on my desktop. There are about 32 files in the folder.
Do I have to put the folder someplace specific before I run anything? There is no file in the folder that is recognized when I tried to run the steps you suggested once I am in the Device Manager.
Thanks

You're very welcome.
This is the setup information file you should see when you select the Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer from the Intel HD graphics adapter...Look at my screenshot of the unzipped driver folder and the file path on top...
I highlighted the file you need to select.
I have a similar model notebook with the HD 4400 graphics and I have used this method many times, so I know it works.

Thanks again for walking me through it. I realized that the original folder I downloaded was not the correct one. Once I found the one needed, I was able to get it installed correctly.
That said, my driver keeps crashing as it did in the past, then restarting. Getting the same Error in the Event Viewer: 4101 "Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered." Any thoughts?

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I don't know why that is happening.
Short of backing up your files and doing a factory reset of your notebook, I only have one other suggestion...
You can try clean installing W10 by making bootable installation media using the media creation tool at the link below.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
When you get to the part of the installation that asks you to enter a product key, select the 'I don't have a product key' option and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
As I posted the other day, I have a similar notebook (HP 350 G10, with a 4th gen Intel core processor and the Intel HD 4400 graphics.
I am running the latest version of W10 x64 and the graphics works fine. It has never crashed on me.
