The screen is huge. And I cant change the resolution to fix it. I'm basically looking at the upper left of the desktop in windows 7. I took it to a shop and they said its either the LCD or the on board switchable graphics. I was hoping someone had a similar issue and could point me in the right direction.

@MacLachlan I'm afraid you are right, if that issue occurs in BIOS it must be a hardware malfunction and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:
1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,

Hi @MacLachlan
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the display issue.
Let's try these steps to re-install the display driver -
1) In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.
2) In Device Manager, expand Display Adapter.
3) Right-click on the Display Adapter, and then select Uninstall device > Delete the driver software for this device check box > Uninstall.
4) Restart the computer.
To change your screen resolution, try these steps -
1) Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button The Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.
2) Click the drop-down list next to Resolution, move the slider to the resolution you want, and then click Apply.
3) Click Keep to use the new resolution, or click Revert to go back to the previous resolution.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@MacLachlan The image you've shared isn't very clear and it being upside/down isn't helping either, could you share a better picture?
Meanwhile, If the Windows desktop is the correct size but the icons on the desktop are too large or too small, use the following steps to resize the icons.
-
Minimize any open windows.
-
Press and hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard.
-
Use the mouse wheel to scroll up or down to decrease or increase the size of the icons on the desktop.
-
When the icons are the correct size, release both the mouse wheel and the Ctrl key on the keyboard.
If the issue persists, try the below steps:
-
Click Start
, and then click Control Panel.
-
Click Appearance and Personalization.
-
Click Display.
-
Click Smaller - 100% default. Then click Apply. The change takes effect the next time you log in to Windows.
If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
