Hi @satyam38,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps to resolve your laptop camera issue. Here’s a more detailed approach to help you get your camera working again.

Update Windows and Drivers

Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Click on Check for updates and install any available updates.

Driver Updates:

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Imaging devices or Cameras (if it’s not visible, the driver might not be installed).
  • Right-click on your camera device and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Manually Install the Camera Driver

  1. HP Support Website:
    • Go to the HP Support Website.
    • Enter your laptop model (HP Notebook - 15) and select the correct operating system (Windows 10).
    • Download the camera driver and install it.

Check Device Manager for Hidden Devices

  1. Show Hidden Devices:
    • Open Device Manager.
    • Click on View and select Show hidden devices.
    • Look for your camera under Imaging devices or Unknown devices.
    • If found, right-click and update the driver.

Reset Camera App

  1. Reset Camera App:
    • Go to Settings > Apps.
    • Find the Camera app in the list.
    • Click on it and select Advanced options.
    • Click on Reset.

Check Privacy Settings

  1. Privacy Settings:
    • Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
    • Make sure Allow apps to access your camera is turned on.
    • Ensure that the app you want to use the camera with has permission.

DISM and SFC Commands

DISM Command:

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
  • Run the following commands one by one.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

SFC Command:

  • After running the DISM commands, run.

sfc /scannow

HP Diagnostics Tool

  1. HP Hardware Diagnostics:
    • Download and run the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool from the HP Support website.
    • Use it to check your camera and other hardware components.

Reinstall Windows (if necessary)

  1. Reinstall Windows:
    • If none of the above steps work, consider reinstalling Windows 10.
    • Ensure you back up your data.
    • Use the Reset this PC option in Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
    • Choose to keep your files or remove everything, based on your preference.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and resolve the issue with your laptop camera.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @satyam38,

I am sorry to hear that the above steps did not help much but i do appreciate your efforts in performing the troubleshooting steps.

- Follow the below steps to perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and wait for the PC to boot into Windows now.

-Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

-Install all the pending updates for the Windows operating system following the below steps and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If the upgrade is available for your device and you want to proceed, download and install it.

-If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to further troubleshoot.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
