I recently bought this refurbished device - it seemed like a good deal. I don't want to do anything strenuous on it like playing games, but I DO want to show my desktop on 2 screens - the LCD panel in the laptop and a nice big screen so I can work in comfort.

The problem is, when I configure the second screen nothing happens - my desktop does seem to expand to two screens but there is nothind showing on the second screen. The second screen is a newish model and has HDMI input. I have an RGB to HDMI cable so it should work but de nada!

Any ideas?

Thanks

If by RGB to HDMI cable you mean VGA to HDMI, then those will  only work if they have an active analog to digital converter built in.  Just a plain cable with no active component will not work.
