Elitebook 8740W
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Dear all hi,

please help since I seem to have run out of alternatives:

My wife runs a 2011 Elitebook 8740W, a very nice laptop used for her job as an architect. Lately, display adapter seems to have failed. I am pretty sure about this, since there are random artifacts on the screen, BSOD and, lately, failure 'normally' boot windows (7). It will start only on safe mode, and give an error regarding display adapter drivers when trying to boot normally.

I have ordered three cards off ebay. One used and two brand new. Model on the label seems identical to what the original card is, QUADRO FX2800M. None of the bought cards works, laptop will not even boot if installed. When switching back to the original card, I am getting the artifacts and the driver loading issues, but laptop works.

Could someone please assist on this? I have seen compatibility lists and upgrade suggestion but nobody mentioned such an issue. An expensive laptop with replaceable graphis card, isn't supposed to actually accept a replacement card??

Looking forward to any contribution.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

Thanos

Looking a bit deeper into this, I fear that I need the original HP part, with the same spare no.

Could someone confirm this?

Thanks

Thanos
