Does anybody have a solution to the defective 360 hinges HP is putting on the market? Mine broke just after the warranty period with occasional use, I don't even think I ever used the 360 feature, just basic opening and closing. The broken hinge has destroyed my screen. Upon reaching out to HP support, I was told it was "customer induced" by their suppoort agent, which was clearly just someone working in an overseas call center who couldn't care less. Their only solution would be for me to pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket to have it fixed. Of course since the problem is that the hinges are defective and many people are having this same issue, it would most likely just happen again. It seems to me these products should be recalled. Anyone have a solution? I'm getting nowhere with HP, and they seem careless about the issue.

Hi @Nick4210 ,
It is genuinely frustrating to deal with a hardware failure like a broken hinge, especially on a premium model like your HP ENVY x360 Convertible Laptop PC 15-ed1000, and to have it happen right after the warranty expires. Please accept my sincere apologies that your initial support experience was not helpful; that’s certainly not what we want for our customers.
I am glad to confirm the information you need to move forward. The primary replacement part you will need to address this is the Display Hinges set (which includes both the left and right hinges).
DIY Repair Guidance
For a self-repair, which is often the most economical option, the correct part number you will need to source is:
-
Part Number: L93205-001 (Display Hinges)
If you are comfortable with a do-it-yourself fix, tackling this repair yourself can save you significant time and money compared to out-of-warranty service. You can find the detailed, step-by-step instructions for replacing the hinges on your specific model in the official Maintenance and Service Guide. This guide will walk you carefully through the entire disassembly and replacement process to help you get your laptop back in perfect working order.
