Laptop Display Resolution information
Monitor - Dell p2717H 27" Full HD 1080p 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz just bought this to get better display
HP Envy dv6-7226nr Notebook had this for a while
Display adapter Intel HD Graphics 4000 is supposed to support up to 1920 x 1200
My problem:
Display options in Settings are 1366 x 768. This is the best resolution that shows in the display properties. The monitor is installed in Device Manager and I've rebooted since getting everything installed. Everything I've searched indicates I should be able to get 1920 x 1080. I've used both VGA and HDMI connections (and rebooted each time after switching connections).
Any help on how to get to the higher resolution would be appreciated or if this product doesn't support higher resolution, let me know that.
Henry

Ok. I figured it out, thanks. I needed to go to the Multiple displays section of the Display Settings and select show only on 2. This blanked out the laptop screen and increased the resolution to what I expected on the external monitor.
Thanks for your help.

Your Dell monitor should come with a CD with software and driver. Please istall its driver on your computer first.
Regards.

I had already installed the drivers from the CD. They were even updated by Dell after the installation. When I open the Dell display manager it shows the Display as Dell SE2717H/HX with resolution 1366 x 768. When I select change, it goes the the laptop system properties where the best option is still the 1366 x 768.

Hi,
Looks like something is not quite right from there. Can you try to use other monitor ? One more thing: can you see Dell model on display 2 or simply Generic display ?
Regards.

I'm not sure what you mean by display 2 or where to check that.
In the display settings i have a blue box with 1 | 2 and a grayed out box that says Display not detected. I clicked on the Display not selected box and tried the Identify and Detect buttons, but nothing happens. I hope this gives you an idea on what I should try. Seems like maybe I need to get the second box activated and separate from the first box so I have 2 displays instead of both of them grouped together.
Thanks,
Henry
