I am in India. This seems to be a common problem with HP. this started happening in second year. I tried to manage by not closing the lid for almost a year. Finally I have taken it to HP service centre, they told me that the screen and the case to which screen is attached has to be replaced along with the hinge. Everything is working fine but the solution to hinge and pasting problem is going to cost me ~450 $ (~Rs 30000). HP should be ashamed of themselves.

Hi@SG55,
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
Apologies for all the inconvenience
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the hinge assembly and in order to fix this issue, your computer needs to be serviced. As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.
I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Please feel free to contact us here anytime you need any further assistance. Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find

Are you trying to waste my time? I hope you are a person reading the email in reality and not a chat bot. I have been to HP service centre already and had an elaborate discussion. You want me to run to HP centre again and waste another day to get the same quote?
