Erratic touchpads are a common problem in many laptops. When Updating Windows, Bios, Drivers, etc., etc. don't work and you never know when the curser will leave the screen, move on its own doing whatever here is the problem. My 2019 Jaguar still does this after every conceivable software "FIX" including a Windows system restart. The problem is the physical touchpad itself. It is basically driven by changes in its electrical capacitance when touched. If you touch it with a non conductive thing like a pencil eraser nothing happens. Your fingers are conductive and electrically charged so they make it work. Temperature also plays a big role in conductance and capacitance. I noticed that placing my laptop in a cool place while away for say five minuets. when I return the pointer is frozen, missing, or moving on its own. I found that putting the computer to sleep and warming the touchpad with my hand would in a minuet bring it back. The screen lights, the pointer returns and moves correctly. Letting the touchpad get cold brings the problems back. So if software fixes don't work, its a defective pad.
