I bought an LG slim portable DVD writer, have loaded Media Suite 10, but when try to play anything I get the following error message.

Runtime error (at 244:189): could not call proc

I have only had this machine one month.

It is not a problem with the DVD writer or software as I downloaded it on to another machine and it works fine with that.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I understand you have an error script while attempting to install the external DVD writer software,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Have you attempted to turn off anti-virus or anti-malware program and retry the installation?

(This seems to be a security error)

While you respond to that, here's what you could do:

Here are the steps to configure UAC settings:

Open User Account Control Settings by clicking the Start button and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type uac, and then click Change User Account Control settings.

  • To turn off UAC, move the slider to the Never notify position, and then click OK.

if you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You will need to restart your computer for UAC to be turned off.

If this doesn't work, please disable your anti-virus/spyware program temporarily, install the application and check if it works.

Let me know how that pans out
