Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598V1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Every time I go to use my webcam it gives me an error message saying I don't have anything installed. When I checked the drivers it doesn't appear to have anything for the webcam; I'm assuming somehow the drivers got deleted. How do I reinstall these drivers?

Hi @theepicpats,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop is having trouble detecting the webcam, likely due to missing or corrupted drivers. Here’s how to reinstall the webcam drivers to get it working again.

Check Device Manager for Camera

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager from the list.
  • Scroll down and expand the Cameras section (or Imaging Devices if you don't see Cameras).
  • If the webcam is listed there, right-click on it and select Uninstall Device.
  • If no camera is listed, proceed to the next steps.

Reinstall Camera Driver

  • After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the webcam driver.
  • If this doesn't happen or your camera isn't showing up, you can manually reinstall the driver.

Download Webcam Driver from HP’s Support Page

  • Go to the HP Support website: HP Support.
  • Enter your laptop's model (e.g., Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop) in the search bar.
  • Navigate to the Drivers & Software section.
  • Look for any available webcam drivers under the Camera or Multimedia category.
  • Download and install the driver, then restart your laptop.

Run Windows Update

  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Check for updates. Windows might automatically detect and install the missing driver.

Use HP Support Assistant

  • If you have HP Support Assistant installed, open it and check for updates. It can automatically detect missing drivers and install them.
  • You can download HP Support Assistant if you don’t have it from here.

BIOS Settings Check

  • If the webcam still doesn’t work, ensure it isn’t disabled in the BIOS. Restart your laptop and press F10 to enter the BIOS settings.
  • Look for a setting related to Integrated Peripherals or Camera and ensure it is enabled.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
