When I connect my LG TV via HDMI as an External monitor (extended display) to my laptop on the active signal resolution drops to 1320x768, whereas the desktop resolution on both the tv and the laptop monitor both have a resolution of 1920x1080. When the display is set to "duplicated" both the active and desktop resolution are 1920x1080 however the display doesn't fit properly on the tv screen. I have searched extensively for help on this issue but have been unable to fix it from updating drivers, adjusting the desktop resolution, checking cables, restarting etc. I cannot adjust the active signal resolution manually. How can I fix this issue?

Good day. Thank you for posting in the HP community. I reviewed the post and will be glad to assist you. Great troubleshooting and excellent description of the issue.
- Did you try with another external screen to isolate the issue correctly?
- Did you try using a different HDMI cable and check again?
- Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand display adapters>then select the display drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
- Check the box that states delete the software for this device.
- Then restart the computer and update the bios chipset and graphics drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers Select the country and type the product# of the unit. Then follow the onscreen instructions.
Then check if the issue gets resolved. If it continues, then try these steps:
- Please use a different HDMI cable and check if it works correctly.
- Also, try connecting to another external screen or TV to isolate the issue between the TV or the computer.
- This will give us the correct picture.
- Try increasing the resolution of the TV and check again.
