I am trying to extend my laptop on to two additional monitors, but when I connect a cord from the monitor thru the usb-c it does not work. Does anyone know how to extend the display onto two additional monitors theu just an hmdi port?

I don't know your machine therefore my guess is the USB-C on your machine does not support Alt mode.

If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors (and notebook monitor - total 3), please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few USB-A DisplayLink Certified options on market today including some HP products (you can select HP before Search)

For example
