My laptop does not have a DVD drive I am planning on purchasing an external DVD drive but does any one know if they are compatible with PC games such as The Sims 4. Also is the HP external drive the best one to go for or is there other recommendations?😁

There are many choices for an external DVD/Bluray drive, it does not need to be a HP model. Depending on the model of laptop and USB choices, most will work. When the question "are compatible with PC games such as The Sims 4", please explain. Once the external drive is connected, it becomes useful to the system as an internal drive would, for most uses. What use does Sims 4 make of the drive?
Forgot to mention, some laptops do not have enough power on the USB port to power an external drive. If you happen to buy a unit that can have an external power sent to it or if it uses more than one USB port, then that is a possible option.

Does the game come on DVD, needs to be install and then run from the installed version?
I did some checking on Sims 4 and found this

If that is the case, then see what is available from where you live/shop and get one that seems to be within the budget. It might be a good idea to check if your laptop can support the one chosen, as indicated in my previous post about being able to run the drive from a USB port.
