Dear HP Support Team,
I own an HP Spectre x360 14-fe2759rz equipped with an Intel Core i7-1355U (13th Gen) processor.
I would like to connect an external NVIDIA graphics card using the Sonnet eGPU Breakaway Box 750ex, which connects to the laptop via Thunderbolt 4.
Before purchasing the equipment, I would like to confirm the following:
- Does my exact laptop model support external GPUs (eGPUs) through its Thunderbolt 4 ports?
- Are there any restrictions or hardware limitations that could prevent an NVIDIA RTX graphics card from being detected and used?
I would appreciate confirmation of compatibility for my exact laptop model, rather than just general Thunderbolt 4 compatibility.
Thank you for your assistance.
Kind regards

Hi @Jozef77
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
The HP Spectre x360 14-fe2759rz features a 13th-generation Intel Core i7-1355U processor. The Sonnet eGPU Breakaway Box 750ex might support compatible Windows computers equipped with Thunderbolt 4, and its documentation lists NVIDIA RTX graphics cards among the supported GPU options.
However, Thunderbolt 4 connectivity alone does not guarantee eGPU functionality. Compatibility also depends on the laptop's BIOS implementation, PCIe tunnelling support and firmware configuration. To investigate the eGPU compatibility further, could you please help clarify the following details?
- Which NVIDIA RTX graphics card are you planning to install (for example, RTX 3060, 4070, 4080, or 4090)?
- Are you running Windows 11, and if so, which version?
- Have you checked whether the Thunderbolt 4 ports are working correctly with other Thunderbolt devices?
"Could you please share the complete product number of your HP Spectre x360 14-fe2759rz? This will help us check the specifications and available firmware for your exact configuration and investigate whether external GPU functionality is supported."
Take care and have an amazing day!
I'm an HP Employee.
