It might be that you just need to get a really good HDMI cable or a really good converter. Maybe even a powered HDMI cable? Saves having to buy a new monitor!
I can confirm, btw, since changing to DP for both monitors (HP E233) on Friday, there has been no blinking. Still haven't tested personal laptop but will test it later.

Thanks for letting me know. I've bought a 8K HDMI to Display Port for one monitor (definitely wasn't cheap). I'm testing this right now. If this works, I'll buy another one as I don't really have a choice except to go with HDMI to DP with G5 Dock. HP needs to give us more options in beyond the single HDMI in. I'm on HP 24ES monitors.
If you can please check for home use as well would be great.

@Jax38
We haven't tried DP to HDMI cables.
I recommend getting on amazon because it's cheaper. The are not Lenovo Brand.

Mine were blinking using HP monitors.
So far today, 4 hours and no blinking after adding a new HDMI cable.
G5 Dock/Elitebook 640 G10/three external monitors (EliteDisplay E232)
USB-C out to dock
DP1 out to monitor DP input using DP:DP cable
DP2 out to monitor DP input using DP:DP cable
HDMI out to monitor HDMI input using HDMI:HDMI cable

Short good quality cables for sure. I wouldn't convert anything. Powered HDMI cables are for long runs.
(Also, 8K HDMI cables are only needed for 8K signals, and I've found them to be extremely fragile)

Hi Ken,
I'm on HP24ES monitors. I've been working for the past 3 hours. The new cable HDMI to DP (Dock) hasn't blinked. The HDMI to HDMI has. I'm going to get another HDMI to DP cable (spend the money) not getting new monitors at this point.
I'll keep everyone posted on the progress but it seems like we've found a solution. Kock on wood!

Hello Ken and Community. Here is my latest update - I think we have lift-off!
Here are the tests so far: 3 hours + and counting! Keeping my fingers crossed. Bottom line, do not go with cheap cables and do not use dongles to convert HDMI to DP into the Dock!
Test 1: Removed two existing HDMI cables converted with dongles to DP cable and Replaced with:
- No name HDMI to HDMI Failed (within 30 mins)
- Newly purchased HDMI to DP Port cable ($36.15 CAD) - Passed
Test 2: Removed No Name HDMI to HDMI cable and replaced with:
- Newly purchased HDMI to DP cheaper cable ($21.46 CAD) – Failed (within 60 min)
- Newly purchased HDMI to DP Port cable ($36.15 CAD) - Passed
Test 3: Removed $21.46 CAD HDMI to DP cable and replace with: WINNER
- Newly purchased HDMI to DP Port cable ($36.15 CAD) – Passed (continuously running at PC for 3 hours)
- Newly purchased HDMI to DP Port cable ($36.15 CAD) – Passed (continuously running at PC for 3 hours)
Cable manufacturer – iCAN UltraHD 8K Display Port to HDMI Cable purchased from Canada Computers (Product ID: CAICA01588 - Male to Male)
HP has offered a BETA firmware update but I'm holding off as I've not gotten the monitors stabilized. I will report back Thursday as I have to present the full day! Keep the faith everyone and wish me luck.

I'm personally closing this one off as cable swaps. Since removing the HDMI & using only DP cables that were supplied with my E233 monitors, both my work & personal laptop work fine without any blinking. G5 dock with Elitebook 850 G8 & G9.
G9 has been tested for a few days & the G8 was tested last night for a few hours but I never had any trouble with that, anyway.
Thanks for all the info towards resolving this 🙂

It would be wild if changing cables actually fixes this issue as I've swapped 3 times already.
Currently I'm using DP to DP for both monitors. They're also HP's "kit" found here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/details/hp-displayport-cable-kit/4020367
Blinks atleast 14 times throughout my 8 hour day. I really want the guy above to go through with the "beta" firmware the rep at HP was talking about. That's going to be the real fix at the end of the day.
