Hello, same issue here. Randomly happens, but often: estimated every 10-30 min the two monitors switch off and on, for overall waiting time 3-4seconds till stable on again. I updated system, controller & monitor firmwares & drivers but still same issue. My system is done by:

* Notebook: HP Elitebook x360 830 G7, x64-based

* OS: Windows 10 Enterprise 10.0.19045

* Display adapter: Intel UHD Graphics Family

* Display port USB-C

* Monitor 1: Notebook (1920x1080)

* Monitor 2 (incl. dock & usb-c in) & 3 (paired): HP E27m G4

* Display settings: extended

See replies regarding cables. It will be your cables. Even if you've tried swapping them already. I had done the same before without progress. I eventually used good DisplayPort cables for both monitors. No issues whatsoever, since. No monitor blinking for a week & a half, now.

@Turccain - I've not updated the beta firmware. The cables I've purchased (see above comments) worked. I delivered two full-days training virtually and no blinking. It has remained problem free  for the first time since I started this forum chat. Trust me when I tell you I was not happy for over a year to finally arrive at a sustainable solution.

The cables were not cheap - do not go cheap. Please see my test results above and what I purchased to resolve.

Good luck.

Since I changed the cables from the dock's 3 outputs to display port to display port (two), and HDMI to HDMI (one), the two display port monitors have been solid on for a week. The straight HDMI to HDMI  blinked a few times a day, however. I just replaced the HDMI with a new shorter CTG one. No blinking yet.

Agree with Frank. HDMI to HDMI blinked for me. I went with two HDMI monitor "out" to DP into dock (no dongle) haven't blinked in over 7 days. Again, high quality cables.

Two HP24es monitors

Thanks, Frank!

If it has to do with the cables quality, dont you agree it is a problem of the port controllers (eg. like too small power to the cables, or bad digital signal processors/algoritm) or compatibility at notebook and dock sides? Why? Because at the end better quality cables should mean lower electrical resistance and/or better shielding (smaller parasitic values) meaninig highwr speed etc. isnt? This suggests me that HP should improve controllers, and that the issue could be solved on firmware/driver level. I guess so. I tried to connect my laptop to two other same HP monitors and still same problem.

I read some other post where guys claimed the same issus also with other brand monitors, so I guess the issue is on the notebook side…

Anyhow, i will follow your tips and order new better cables tomorrow and post the otucome as soon as I check it.

Thanks all you meanwhile.

Yes, I do think the components/drivers are weak.

I was just trying to find some way of making the blinking stop.

BTW, the short CTG HDMI to HDMI cable is working. No blinking all day on 3 external monitors!

I can confirm that quality cables fix the issue.

My setup:
HP ZBook Fury 16 G9 Mobile Workstation-PC (609L4AV)
HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 w/Combo Cable (4J0G4AA)
3 LG displays, HDMI inputs only

Connections:
2 x DP to HDMI cables from dock
1 x HDMI to HDMI cable from ZBook

I switched to MAXONAR cables yesterday, now all problems are gone.

2 x MAXONAR DTH1     (DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 8K Cable 2M, 6.6FT)
1 x MAXONAR H8K1     ((Certified) HDMI 2.1 Ultra HD High Speed 48Gpbs Cable 8K)

Thanks a lot Jax38, you saved me from buying new displays with DP inputs!

As hopeful as I was due to quite a few "C2G cables fix the problem!" posts, I'm here to say they do not.  Twenty minutes after installing, one of my monitors blinked black just like with the HP DP-to-DP cables.

Back to the drawing board.  I really wish guy went along with the beta firmware HP was talking about.

To confirm also, I ordered this part based on Jax38 original post about cables, and this post by Arno_claassen about it working. I haven't had any problems since. I have tried using both DP and HDMI cable that came with the monitor and there is glitching. Sometimes it doesn't happen, but it returns after a while.
