In my scenario, as noted in earlier posts, I only have the option to HDMI out from my HP monitor. High-quality HDMI out (8K cables) to DP into the dock worked. I've tried upgrading to the firmware, and it didn't work.
Here is my exact configuration for apples to apples vs any oranges:
2 HPes23
2 8K HDMI out to DP in
hp USB-C dock g5
Laptop - Dragonfly Folio
If people are finding solutions to updating the firmware, great. As for me, the high-quality cables worked. I've asked the HP Escalated Support Team to review the posts on this forum, as it is currently unmonitored. If any of you have an HP Sales account rep, I highly recommend that you contact them based on your level of frustration.

For us it happens only with x27 and omen27 monitors both by HP.
it does NOT happen with older monitors with only 60hz refresh rate like the HP27xi, 27vx, 27o, 27f, 27sv and 27vh models.
Problem is most likely docking station.
This is the work around I found to stop the 2 to 3 seconds blackout on the screens:
ONE of the monitor should be plugged in directly to the laptop's HDMI input.

I can confirm, that changing the cable probably solved the problem discussed here. But also updates all drivers and firmwares is important.
My configuration:
middle monitor: DP:DP, Monitor EIZO FlexScan EV2450, 1920x1080, 60Hz
left monitor:DP:DP, Monitor EIZO FlexScan EV2450, 1920x1080, 60Hz
right monitor :HDMI:HDMI, Monitor EIZO FlexScan EV2450, 1920x1080, 60Hz
New bought cables:
Video kabel Vention DisplayPort (DP) 1.4 Cable 8K 1.5m Black
Video kabel Vention DisplayPort (DP) 1.4 Cable 8K 3m Black
Vention Cotton Braided HDMI 2.1 Cable 8K 3m Blue Aluminum Alloy Type
I was not sure about cable specification, but it seems it must be quality 8K cable with HDMI2.1 specification. It seems that these works. Dont buy no-name, even with HDMI2.1 specification. These Vention cables was not expensive.
Another important step:
Install HP Support Assistant and update your computer with latest drivers and firmware. HP Support Assistant will help you find the latest drivers automatically.

I have a HP ZBook Fury 16 G9 Mobile Workstation connected to 2x 32" 4k monitors (Dell S3221QS 32 Inch Curved 4K UHD) (laptop lid closed) using the 280W Thunderboly G4 Dock. Via HP Support Assistant, I updated my BIOS today (U96 Ver. 01.11.04) and it made the flickering problem significantly worse. I have not tried to adjust any BIOS settings yet. I also have the latest firmware and software updates for my PC and dock. My home setup uses 3x 27" monitors (2x are 4k monitors S2721QS) and they experience the same issue. The 3rd 27" monitor is a 1080p via HDMI-HDMI that never flickers. I may look into better shielded DP-DP cables.

I have had the same issue with cube-type hp thunderbolt docks, both G5 and the previous generation, with a variety of monitors and at least two different z-book workstation laptops. My current configuration is ZBook Fury 16 G10 and an HP Thunderbolt G4 280W dock. I have tried using HDMI, display port and USB-C DP connections, and each one blanks-out intermittently. The monitor is a Dell unit that has dock capabilities as well, but causes low power warnings if I connect directly, even if I continue using the power connection from the G4 dock to the laptop. My colleague has the same dock, but he is using a newer laptop and an HP monitor connected via display port, and he has the same issues. I have previously managed to reduce the occurance of these blackouts by forcing the whole setup to always use the nVidia graphics system and not the processor's graphics, but I can't find the option to do this any more, and one item of software that I use doesn't get on well with nVidia.
Has HP ever given any solution to this issue? The dock's firmware is up-to-date, and I frequently update the laptop via Support Assistant. It is becoming infuriating.

Hi, please review previous posts and resolution (high quality cables). Firmware updates has not resolved my problems and in some cases, as reported in the community has made it worse.
Do not mix and match HDMI to HDMI with HDMI to DP. Be consistent. Do not use dongles to convert HDMI to DP. Please read previous solution. My problems as countless number of others have been resolved through quality cables.
Also, contact HP directly report the issue as they do not have the data. if you have an account manager, tell them about this community post and ask them to get in touch with Product Manager. Their docking product is terrible. I won't even go into battery life on their the notebooks.

Hello,
Followed the advises from from Jax38 and bought new Vention DisplayPort (DP) 1.4 Cable 8K 1.5m Black for DisplayPort.
Congrats it helped in your case, but after one dayI experienced the same behaviour as before.
Also drivers are updated, DP to DP cable only, I doubt it is only the cable

Sorry to hear that it didn't work. I didn't update the firmware. I hate to say it perhaps that's what it was. My problem has been resolved for sometime. It's too bad that the cables didn't work for you, maybe we need to review what firmware version we're operating and settings.

Jax38,
- Could you tell us which docking station firmware you are using? Sounds like it may be beneficial for some of us to rollback ours.
- In parallel, I am trying replacing my DP-DP cables with IVANKY 16K Displayport Cable 6.6ft, DP 2.1 Cable. Hopefully 4.7 stars and 31k reviews isn't wrong =). This IVANKY cable also came up several times on review websites. If these don't work, will consider per previous posts the Maxonar VESA Certified DisplayPort 2.1 Cable, 16K DisplayPort Cable or VENTION 8K DisplayPort Cable 1.4 16FT, Display Port Cable 144hz Ultra High Speed 32.4Gbps, 8K@60Hz 4... Will follow up with updates.
Overall, your frequent feedback and previous troubleshooting efforts are very appreciated for everyone struggling with this very annoying bug. Thank you!

I've never had any luck in the rollback process. It just stays at whatever version you're currently on and if you try to roll it back, it will tell you you're on a newer version and will not proceed with the old version. Even if you try to force it. Please let me know if you are successful in doing so though because I think that's going to be part of the fix here. I've tried many different cables all with the same outcome.
