Hi there,
I recently observed that the privacy filter for screen isn't working in my laptop.
I have HP Spectre x360 Convertible 14-ea0xxx
Other function keys work whereas I am observing this issue in specific to the screen filter.
Can someone help here?
Thanks.

Hi  @Shree_,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern on how it can be when a feature you rely on suddenly stops working, don’t worry let me help you with this.

Could you kindly confirm the below details :

  1. When you press the F1 key, do you see any on-screen message or notification?
  2. Are you using the original HP image OS, or was Windows recently reinstalled?
  3. Have you ever been able to use the privacy screen feature successfully on this device before?

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm:

1. Try to use the below Key Combination

On some HP Spectre models, the privacy screen may require:

  • Fn + F1
  • Or simply F1 if Action Keys Mode is enabled in BIOS

Please test both options.

2. Restart the HP Hotkey Service

  1. Press Windows + R
  2. Type services.msc
  3. Locate HP Hotkey UWP Service
  4. Right-click and select Restart
  5. Test the F1 key again

3. Update HP Hotkey Support

  1. Open HP Support Assistant
  2. Select Updates
  3. Install any available updates, especially:
    • HP Hotkey Support
    • HP System Event Utility
    • BIOS updates
  4. And restart the notebook

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (Link for steps on how to perform the UEFI test - Click here )

  1. Turn off the notebook.
  2. Press the Power button and immediately tap F2 repeatedly.
  3. Run the available hardware tests, particularly the keyboard test to test F1 key .
  4. Let us know if any errors are reported.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
