HP Laptop - 17-ca2096nr
Microsoft Windows 11

The screen on my laptop was damaged, and replacing the display would cost over 50% of the original cost of the system.  I decided to use the system as a desktop by adding an external monitor, connected via an HDMI cable, setting the monitor as the main display, and changing the power options to do nothing when the lid closes. Changing the power options would allow me to use an external wireless keyboard and mouse. This resolution to the problem was working perfectly and proved to be an excellent solution to the display problem, with the advantage of providing me with a desktop system for a home office.

There arose a problem that requires me to do a factory reset; however, every time I attempt this, the computer shuts down and has to be manually restarted, or the system begins the process but the external display is turned off and the system shuts down.  Simply put, I lose display during the process and shuts down; however, no display is needed once the process begins. The actual display of information is only required after the process has been completed and the initial setup of the computer is required.

Does anyone know how to resolve my problem?  I need to complete a factory reset with an external display and no access to the built-in display.
