I've had my Envy X360 for about a year now, and my fingerprint scanner has quit working multiple times. I've followed the instructions that have worked for others, deleting all files, reinstalling driver, etc. It always starts working again for a period of time and then quits again. I did notice that the driver states "deactived by windows due to errors with the driver". I went through the process again and this time as soon as I installed with the download manager, it immediately gave me an error message stating that the driver "is not compatible with OS". How can I fix this and prevent it fro repeatedly happening?

You're very welcome.
Is there a Windows update that wrecks the driver?
If so, you would have to figure out which one it is, and prevent it from installing.
You can run the Hide Windows Update tool to prevent unwanted updates from installing.
You may also want to check your notebook's support page from time to time, to see if an updated fingerprint driver is released which may address the problem.

Hi:
I am navigating blindly here since you didn't provide the model of your x360, but see if this works to get the driver to install.
Go to the device manager. Click on the fingerprint scanner device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the driver file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp#####, where ##### is the file number of the driver you ran.
Make sure the Include subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC.
