Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I purchased this laptop about 3 weeks ago, and from the moment I switched it on, the display was flickering. I did a quick google and found that the issue was probably the display drivers.

After upgrading the laptop to Windows 10 Pro from the Home Version I downloaded the drivers from the HP website, and it remained the same.

I have tried all the drivers from the HP website, drivers from Windows Update, and drivers installed by intel using one of their troubleshooting packages, all to no avail.

I don't think that its a hardware problem. If anyone could has the same setup and has a permanent solution to the problem, could you please post the solution.

Thanks

Just an update to this for everyone. I have found a permanent fix.

Turning the WIFI Off was a solution where I had a wired network cable available, but as soon as I turned the WIFI back on again, all hell broke loose with the screen flicker.

I have now purchased a usb nano WIFI dongle which sets itself up as WIFI2. WIFI (internal) is permanently switched off, and WIFI2 (the dongle) connects at will.

I have not had a flicker for 2 weeks.

Hope this helps someone out there.

My friend has this problem too, on his 3 weeks old machine. Problem is from day 1. I upgraded machine to 1903 and installed latest Intel driver for him, it is much better BUT still, specially when using Internet browser (any).

I reported to Forum and asked him to wait for newer driver(s) from HP, I believe that is not a hardware problem. He can wait because like me, we use external monitors 99% of our times on notebooks.

Regards.

Yeah, external displays are fine when at home and I have 3 monitors attached via HDMI and USB3.

But using the laptop as a standalone is a nightmare with the screen flicker, and I bought the laptop to be a portable device as I often spend days away from home and need to use it as my main PC.

My concern is that I only have 3 months HP warranty remaining and the fliickering laptop screen is not fit for purpose, and will HP fix the driver issue before my warranty expires. If they cannot fix the issue before the warranty expiration date am I entitled for a replacement machine ?

I have now found a solution the problem, quite accidentally.

The laptop has been running fine over the weekend after I have again updated the drivers, this time from geforce. Thought that had done the trick to be honest.

It was only until I used it at the office and turned on the WIFI, the screen was flickering yet again. Turn if off and go wired connection, absolutely perfect.

So, there you go.. Turn off the WIFI or if anyone has a got drivers which fix the problem, please add to this thread.
