When I disconnect my notebook from power and let it run on battery the screen flickers 5-10 times every time I switch between the programs. For example, I open photoshop, the screen flickers 5 times, then stops. A switch to another program, the screen flickers, then stops.
It doesn't happen when it is connected to power.
1. Video Intel Drivers have been updated to the latest version.
2. If I go to Intel HD Graphics in Control Panel > click on Power and disable everything here, then the flickering stops
For obvious reasons I don' want to have it disables.
Please let me know what can be done.
The flickering is annoying and I'm contemplating returning the laptop while I still can.

Hi @elovkoff,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! As I understand the screen on your HP Pavilion x360 flickers repeatedly,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
And is it the flickering on your laptop that stops or the monitor that doesn't have the flickering issue?
Have you checked if the screen flickers in the Bios?
Have you tried to use an external monitor to check if the issue persists?
In the meantime, let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, a blank display, software freezing, keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.
Boot the computer into the Bios screen and check if the screen flickers.
1. Turn off your computer
2. Make sure you have connected the power cable
3. Turn on your notebook, as it is starting press the F10 button repeatedly
If you don’t have an alternate monitor, I recommend checking if the issue appears on the BIOS screen (restart the computer and tap on F10 to access BIOS)
This would confirm if it's either a hardware failure or an issue with the graphics card drivers so we may reinstall and update the drivers to fix the issue as mentioned above.
If in Bios, the screen does not flicker then it is do with the drivers. More over, as you are using photoshop this uses more of power resource which could also be an issue with screen flickering. In this scenario, I would suggest here is to update the Bios, Chipset and Display drivers. Please follow the steps from below:
Uninstall the graphics card drivers from Device manager:
Right-Click on start button> click device manager> Display adapters>then select the display drivers and right-click on it and uninstall the graphics drivers.
Please check the box that says “delete the software for this device”.
Once done, restart the computer and then update the Bios, Chipset and graphics card drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link. Please select the correct operating system.
Once done, restart the computer and check if it works.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Keep me posted,

Hi Jeet, unfortunately, none of it helped, I tried everything and followed instructions to the letter.
It doesn't happen in BIOS, all drivers were updated as instructed, hard reset was performed.
It seems like a bug and it happens only when:
- the laptop is disconnected from power and runs on battery
- when in Control Panel > Intel Graphic settings > Power has the default settings. If click on Disable Power Saving Technology the problem is not there.
I hope it will be corrected in future releases.
What is the risk and consequences of having Power Saving Technology disabled in Intel Graphics > Power settings?
