HP Pavilion x360 Convertible 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I got my Pavilion x360 at the beginning of this year (January 2019) for college. On start-ups I would notice the lights around the border of the screen but I thought that was normal.  Since May I haven't been using it as much except the occasional game or Netflix. Last week I noticed that every time I touched the screen there would be this flicker of white light. I'm not sure the problem, nor am I savvy with the laptop so I just disabled the touchscreen to avoid damaging it more. Touching the screen while the touch is disabled doesn't seem cause flickering.

What is causing the light to flicker and what can be done about it?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Have you made any hardware/software changes?
  • Have you checked if the screen flickers in the Bios?
  • Have you tried to use an external monitor to check if the issue persists?

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Boot the computer into the Bios screen and check if the screen flickers.

1. Turn off your computer
2. Make sure you have connected the power cable
3. Turn on your notebook, as it is starting press the  F10 button repeatedly

Next, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
And, also run BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
