Hi, I would love to get my hd5650m to work properly, I've done an DDU clean install on windows 10 with the crimson driver from radeon, but unfortunately, I can't get it to work... What am I doing wrong ? Or my gpu is dead out of nowhere, the pc never falls, have run a very very light amount of time I don't get it. Someone was talking about amd package, but what does this mean, do I have to manualy check something on install ? Since the gpu is two chip pair, I was thinking that I may need specials drivers for both or so, or like nvidia. I've read somewhere it is disconnected, but I can't remember where :S
Even amd crimson ui driver shows up Intel HD Graphics. It is depressing. Thanks if you can help, I'm so pissed of searching anywhere and continue so.

Hi @MaxPayne3 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your graphics card. It can be frustrating, but let's try to troubleshoot and resolve the problem. Here are some steps you can take:
Check Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start button and select "Device Manager."
- Look for your AMD Radeon HD 5650M under "Display adapters."
- Ensure there are no warning symbols (yellow triangles) next to it.
Update Drivers:
- Right-click on the AMD Radeon HD 5650M in Device Manager and select "Update driver."
- Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the on-screen instructions.
AMD Cleanup Utility:
- Download and run the AMD Cleanup Utility to completely remove any previous graphics drivers.
- You can find this utility on the AMD website.
Install AMD Drivers:
- Download the latest drivers for your AMD Radeon HD 5650M from the official AMD website.
- During installation, choose the "Custom" option and perform a clean install.
BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Ensure that your laptop's BIOS/UEFI settings are configured correctly.
- Check for any options related to switchable graphics or the discrete GPU.
Power Settings:
- Open the Power Options in the Control Panel and ensure that the laptop is set to use the high-performance GPU when needed.
AMD Enduro Technology:
- Some laptops with switchable graphics use AMD Enduro Technology. Check if your laptop has this feature and adjust the settings accordingly.
Check GPU Connection:
- If your laptop has a discrete GPU, make sure it is properly connected to the motherboard. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself.
Windows Updates:
- Ensure that your Windows operating system is up-to-date with the latest updates.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- If all else fails, there could be a hardware issue with the GPU or its connection to the motherboard.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
