Could you please help me trouble shoot! I want pressing F5 or Fn F5 to bring on backlight on the keyboard

Maybe your computer doesn't have a backlight, or it's not on the F5 key, it's on the F4 key

No, the F5 key is the key earmarked for bringing on the back light 'ON' in the laptop. It worked for a few months initially. Pressing the key has no effect anymore and if fn +F5 are pressed together that refreshes the page...

You can modify it through BIOS settings,But I think you need to consider whether the backlight is no longer available.

Updated BIOS settings too, without much help!

I ran the hp pc hardware diagnostics components test - the key board test. When I only pressed the f5 key, there is no response but if I press the Fn + F5 key together, the page getting refreshed is the test result. All the other keys are working perfectly in the test.

Enter the BIOS configuration page, you can modify the properties of FN + F5, and change the properties of the property refresh page back to turn on the backlight.
