Greetings.
My laptop has recently been troubled by white and black screens (freezing and restarting in both cases), tablet mode not working at all anymore and an error message in windows notifications(display blocked from systemsettings).
This all started when I installed the newest BIOS (F.19) update, and Windows decided to update to version 1809.
Restoring factory settings didn't work.
I hope someone has solutions for these.

A new BIOS update F.20 is available!
I had to call HP for a link, since they haven't updated their driver support.
GPU drivers remain stable for now, but they are still outdated. (They are still from 2017...)
I will be switching my main platform to another company. I cannot rely for support that I must figure out myself.

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see that you're experiencing display and computer freezing related issue after latest bios update. I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- What happens when you start your computer?
- Is it blue screen or its stuck in HP logo?
While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
Let's try bios roll back and check:
Press power button and start tapping the Esc key to access the startup menu. In the startup menu select the F2 key. That will invoke the HP Advanced System Diagnostics. Select BIOS management and in the BIOS management screen selectBIOS Rollback
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!

Thank you Echo_Lake for responding.
My laptop powers on normally, no problems with that. It doesn't BSOD or get stuck in HP logo.
The BIOS rollback you suggested seems to be impossible to do, as the diagnostic says only F.19 is present.
I noticed that AMD video driver is from 2017 which seems a bit outdated. This is the newest driver in HP support website.
The white freezing screen appears in GPU intensive tasks. The black screen appears at random. The laptop restart after both cases.
Tablet mode and screen rotation seems to be automagically solved after a tiny Windows update.
In summary, this problem seems to be a driver issue. An update for GPU drivers would be my best bet. Any thoughts?

Hello again Echo_Lake.
The F.19 is the latest BIOS for my product, which I currently have. It doesn't seem to be available anymore for some reason. I could only find older versions from
HP support.
I'll be be waiting for a new BIOS and GPU driver update.
I hope this will be fixed in the near future.

Hello UnloadedOne!
I will mark this as solved when the official update arrives.
There is a workaround if you need one in the meantime:
Do this ONLY if you know what you are doing!!
Remember to backup beforehand!
