Hi @JohnA78

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue where your NVIDIA RTX A1000 GPU is detected but not being utilized, with all video being handled by the integrated Radeon graphics. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Graphics Settings

  • NVIDIA Control Panel: Right-click on the desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel." Go to "Manage 3D Settings" and ensure that your preferred graphics processor is set to "High-performance NVIDIA processor."
  • Windows Graphics Settings: Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings. You can set specific applications to use the NVIDIA GPU.

2. Update Drivers

  • Ensure that you have the latest NVIDIA drivers installed. You can also try using the GeForce Experience app to automatically check for and install the latest drivers.

3. Check Device Manager

  • Open Device Manager and expand "Display adapters." Ensure that the NVIDIA GPU is listed without any warning signs. If there’s an issue, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the driver.

4. BIOS Settings

  • Check the BIOS settings to ensure that the discrete GPU is enabled. Sometimes, there may be options related to GPU settings that need to be configured.

5. Power Management Settings

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options. Make sure you are set to a balanced or high-performance plan. Under "Change plan settings," click on "Change advanced power settings" and look for any settings related to PCI Express and set them to "Off."

6. Check for Conflicting Software

  • Certain software, like integrated graphics management tools, might conflict with the NVIDIA drivers. Try disabling or uninstalling any such tools.

7. Test with Different Applications

  • Try running applications that are known to utilize the GPU (like games or rendering software) to see if the usage changes. Check Task Manager under the Performance tab to monitor GPU usage.

8. Reset BIOS

  • If you suspect there might be a configuration issue, consider resetting your BIOS to default settings.

9. Windows Update

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 is fully updated, as updates can sometimes resolve driver compatibility issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
