HP Notebook - 15g-br004tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Some white vertical lines are visible only on boot up after hp logo on screen. I dont know what's the issue.  I have formatted the system and also its service has been done. Still the issue exists. Day by day the width of lines seems to be increasing.

Please help me understand the issue.

Thanks.

Hi @Sam8991,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If your HP Notebook - 15g-br004tu is displaying white vertical lines after booting past the HP logo, it indicates a potential hardware issue, particularly with the display or the graphics card. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take to identify and possibly resolve the issue:

1. Check for External Display Issues

  • Touch: Connect your laptop to an external monitor via HDMI or another video output.
  • Sight: If the external display shows the same vertical lines, the issue may lie with the graphics card. If the external monitor displays correctly, the problem likely resides with the laptop’s screen or connection.

2. Inspect the Display Cable Connection

  • Touch + Sight: If you're comfortable doing so, carefully open the laptop’s casing to access the display cable.
  • Ensure the cable connecting the display to the motherboard is securely attached and not damaged. If it appears loose or damaged, re-seating it may help.

3. Boot into Safe Mode

  • Touch: Restart the laptop and repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 during boot-up to access the Advanced Boot Options.
  • Select Safe Mode and observe if the lines persist. If they don’t, this could indicate a driver issue.

4. Update or Roll Back Graphics Drivers

  • Touch + Sight: If Safe Mode works without lines, you can update or roll back the graphics driver.
    • Boot into Windows, right-click the Start button, and select Device Manager.
    • Expand the Display adapters section, right-click your graphics driver, and select Update driver or Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver (if available).

5. Run Hardware Diagnostics

  • Sight: Most HP laptops have built-in diagnostics.
    • Turn off the laptop, then turn it back on and repeatedly press the ESC key until the Startup Menu opens.
    • Press F2 to run the System Diagnostics and check for any hardware failures, particularly with the display.

6. Replace the Display or Graphics Card

  • If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it may indicate a failing LCD panel or graphics card. In this case, replacing the display or seeking professional repair may be necessary.

7. Check for Overheating

  • Touch + Sight: Ensure the laptop is not overheating, which can cause display issues.
  • Clean out dust from the vents and ensure the fan is functioning properly.

If these troubleshooting steps do not resolve the issue, it may be best to contact HP Phone Support for more options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
