notebook 15

Hello my laptop is doing a ghost touch on my screen and it freezes. I have called the hp support but all they do is download updates. This does not work, as it keeps freezing up on me.  I am enrolled in an online school and can not complete ant homework because of this. It keeps getting worse.

@Sls331,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! As I understand you are having a paranormal experience with your HP notebook as you have "Ghost" touches, don't worry I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

What is the product number of your notebook?Use this link to find it:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03754824  (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

Did you check for any damage on the PC?

Did you check if the issue persists even in the Bios screen?

if not I recommend checking if the Touch is working on BIOS screen (Accessed by tapping on F10 while restarting the computer).

Perform a Hard reset on the notebook: Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:

The best way to identify if this is either a hardware or a software issue is by checking if the Touch is working on BIOS screen

(Accessed by tapping on F10 while restarting the computer).

If it works on bios, it's a software issue: please reinstall the display drivers, install the latest updates for the display adapters and BIOS, if the issue persists,

You could reinstall the windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue.

Alternatively, I would suggest here is to follow the steps suggested in the support document for - HP PCs - Computer Locks Up or Freezes (Windows 10, 😎

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Hello thanks for the advice, I honsestly just disabled the touch screen, I really do not need to use it anyway.  Once I did this, it no longer has the ghost touch and no longer freezes.

@Sls331,

It's great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

I'm glad you got this issue sorted out. However, I would suggest this could be a software or driver related issue.

I would personally suggest you try to update the Bios, Chipset and graphics card drivers either from our HP support website or using HP support Assistant.

For more details, please follow the instructions from the previous post.

Do visit our HP Forums and drop us a message anytime you need help.

Thank you 😀
