I recently acquired an HP Notebook 15-dy1025nr and later noticed I couldn't regulate or adjust the brightness. adjusting the slider, using the brightness function keys and the power option had no effect on the brightness. I tried updating my drivers and it still had no effect on the issue. I also noticed that no intel integrated graphics hardware was detected, it only runs Microsoft basic display adapter. could it be a reason for the inability to change the brightness settings? is it also standard for the system to not detect any intel graphics adapter and properties? I also noticed the system had no hp preinstalled programs. Could anyone help me out?

Hi:
Yes, running on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is why you can't adjust the screen brightness or put the PC in sleep mode.
The specs indicate that your notebook has the onboard Intel graphics.
Since you tried the Intel graphics drivers and they didn't work, are you running a recent version of Windows 10?
Some folks install older builds and the graphics drivers won't work because they are not supported on the older builds of W10.
If you are running W10 version 1709 or newer, see if this works...manually update the Microsoft Basic Display adapter drivers to the latest version.
See my knowledgebase article at the link below for how to do that.
Updating the Latest HD Graphics Driver from Intel...Skylake,... - HP Support Community - 7185608
The only difference in the instructions would be that you click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter since the Intel HD graphics adapter is not showing up under the Display Adapters device manager category.
Before updating the graphics driver, make sure you have installed the latest Intel chipset driver from your notebook's support page and restart the PC.
