ZBook Power 15.6 Inch G9

Has anyone experienced HDMI detection issues on the ZBook Power 15.6 Inch G9 (T600) with Linux?

The port seems to be misidentified by the BIOS, leading to it not working correctly. Various troubleshooting steps like BIOS updates and driver changes haven't resolved the issue. Monitor works well when connected via thunderbolt adaptor, but I need HDMI to work.

This seems to be a Linux-specific problem, as the port functions normally under Windows. Any suggestions or fixes from the community or HP would be greatly appreciated.

It's seems like I am facing the same issue as everyone in the topic above, but doesn't seem like HP provided a fix and the post seems to be locked.

Maybe this might be helpful for someone, but suddenly this started to work on my laptop. I cannot pinpoint the exact reason why it started working because since it wasn't working after a few tries, I stopped trying but here is my config:

  • Up to date PopOS 22.04 LTS with the latest kernel (Linux pop-os 6.6.10-76060610-generic)
  • Latest BIOS (Version: U97 Ver. 01.09.01)
  • NVidia Drivers version 545.29.06

And recently I have installed the latest version (5.8) of the DisplayLink drivers in order to have the displays working while using a Lenovo docking station. I wonder if it weren't these that actually made a difference somehow.

Let me know if you need more details.

Cheers,

João
