HP Notebook x2 - 10-p031nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I am not sure what adaptor I will need to connect my Notebook to a projector. The projector has an HDMI cable that should be inserted into an HP adaptor. I have tried a couple of adaptors and with both I received the message "product not recognized". Thank you for your help.

@Barbara197, Thanks for the update! Since you've confirmed that your HP Notebook x2 has a Micro-HDMI port, I checked for HP-branded Micro-HDMI to HDMI adapters. However, HP currently focuses more on USB-C to HDMI adapters, and I couldn’t find an official HP Micro-HDMI to HDMI adapter available directly from HP

.

That said, HP does offer a USB-C to HDMI adapter if you ever use a device with a USB-C port in the future.

@Barbara197, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Notebook!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Your HP Notebook x2 - 10-p031nl does not have a built-in HDMI port, so you’ll need a compatible adapter to connect it to a projector with an HDMI cable. Since you’ve already tried a couple of adapters and received the "product not recognized" error, let’s troubleshoot and find the correct one.

Check Available Ports:

  • Your HP Notebook x2 likely has a USB-C or Micro-HDMI port.
  • If it has USB-C, you’ll need a USB-C to HDMI adapter.
  • If it has Micro-HDMI, you’ll need a Micro-HDMI to HDMI adapter.

Ensure Adapter Compatibility:

  • If using USB-C, make sure the adapter supports video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode).
  • If using Micro-HDMI, check if the adapter is a Micro-HDMI (not Micro-USB) to HDMI.

Update Drivers & Firmware:

  • Go to Device Manager → Expand Display Adapters → Right-click your graphics driver → Update driver.
  • Check HP official website for any BIOS or firmware updates.

Try a Different Adapter:

  • Some adapters require additional drivers, while others work plug-and-play.
  • Consider HP-certified accessories or a high-quality adapter from brands like Anker, UGREEN, or Belkin.

Test with Another Display:

  • Connect the adapter to a different HDMI display (like a TV) to check if the issue is with the projector or adapter.

Let me know if you need help identifying your ports or finding a specific adapter! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello Zoey and thank you for your answer! I followed your instruction and checked the available ports. I do have a Micro-HDMI port (and not a USB-C port). I was looking for HP certified accessories but I only found a HP adapter for USB-C port to connect to HDMI and could not find any Micro-HDMI to HDMI. Can you find a specific HP adapter (or other brands) that would work in my case? Thank you so much!
