Hi, I just bought a new HP laptop running Windows 10 S last week and when trying to watch programmes using HDMI, the screen on the TV turns pink/green intermittently and eventually reverts back to normal after a few minutes.
- I have tried different HDMI ports on the TV with no difference.
- Using my old laptop (running on WIndows 10), there are no problems when using the same HDMI cable so I know that the cable is not the problem and nor is the HDMI port on the TV.
- The graphics settings on the old and new laptop are similar ie RGB (the TV is yCbCr444).
- I have tried Microsoft Edge and old Internet Explorer, but cannot try this with Chrome or Firefox as the Windows 10 S mode is very restrictive in terms of installing apps.
- The graphics driver is AMD Radeon R3 Graphics (the old laptop uses AMD A4 9125 Radeon)
- Could an extension i.e. Adobe Flash have some effect on this?
I have already spent quite a lot of time trying to find a way of fixing this. As this is a new laptop, should I return the laptop and ask for a replacement or is there some simple fix for this?
Many thanks in advance !

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the display on the TV when connected to the HDMI port.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you update the graphics driver on the computer follow the below steps and check if it helps.
- In the search box on the taskbar, enter the device manager, then select Device Manager.
- Select a category to see names of devices, then right-click (or press and hold) the one you’d like to update.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Select Update Driver.
If you continue facing the issue, then update Windows and install all the updates including optional updates.
Here is how it is done.
Open the Settings menu and go to Update & security > Windows Update. Click Check for updates to prompt your PC to scan for the latest updates. The update will be downloaded and installed automatically. Click Restart Now to restart your PC and complete the installation process.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
