This HP laptop has a USB type C port and it works fine for storage access. However, a USB type-C to HDMI adapter doesn't seem to work. I tried with different working HDMI cables and also found the adapter to be working fine with another laptop. I tried updating drivers, still no use. Please help me solve this issue

Your machine could be one of the following machines
https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=2D119AV
It ONLY has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors, you can use
M1: HDMI direct cable
M2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
https://www.amazon.com.au/CableCreation-Adapter-Windows-Compatible-2560x1440/dp/B013G4CJM8
For more connectivity, please use
True Universal Docking Stations
Regards.
