Envy M6-1310ea Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I've got an older laptop that I would like to connect to a TV. The HDMI port no longer seems to work. I've checked the cable and TV port with another laptop which proves it's the HDMI port on this Envy notebook which has the issue. As the laptop is some years old and was not originally Windows 10 (it was Windows 8 from memory) I'm wondering if it is a software driver issue.

I've tried the support site but it says there are no drivers available for this model. Are there alternative drivers or other solutions which might restore the HDMI output from this laptop please?

Thanks

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo Lake,

thanks for your response and suggestions.

I have checked the Windows Update settings. It currently says it's preparing an update but this isn't ready yet and to check back later. Perhaps I need to come back in a couple of days.

I have also downloaded the HP Support Assistant you mentioned and run this. This says there are no updates required.

I did also find another post mentioning an update to the graphics card drivers. I've done this and it did update the graphic card driver.

However I've tried the HDMI port again and it's still not working.

Any further thoughts or should I try and wait for the next Window's update that it says it's preparing?

Thanks in advance for your help

Thanks Echo Lake. I'll pursue that option. It might be the laptop is just too old now.

Appreciate your efforts
